Walk Around the World - Reading: Josh's Roman Walk

Josh walking around the world last year

Start time: Sunday 15th October at 10.30 am

Start place: The Car Park, Mortimer West End Recreation Park, Church Road, Silchester (see map).

Distance: 8 kilometres (5 miles)

Description:  A wonderful walk through varied scenery, forest, ponds, fields and including a chance to visit Roman town of Calleva (and the amphitheatre). We will also stop to visit a local recreation ground (for the children) and a local pub for refreshments(for their parents!), if needed. This walk is easy going, good underfoot, but some muddy areas (depending on time of year). So walking boots maybe advisable dependant on weather conditions.

Features: Roman Town of Calleva and amphitheatre on route; Pub at halfway point or end  (The Calleva Arms) or (The Red Lion) - presently being investigated!!!; Children's recreation park.

Time:  Walking Time: Estimated 3 hours walking time plus any time spent in playground and / or pub.

This is primarily Josh's walk to help The Son-rise programme. He has indicated that he would love it to be a children's walk and dogs will be welcome, although he (Josh) may take a while to get used to them! The idea is for us all to have fun and enjoy being together on a wonderful Sunday morning with lovely views and trees all around and to smile at each other as we help other little guys by raising money!

All welcome to join us! Lets go have some fun!!!!!!!!!!!!
